Join us in Melbourne for the 13th EduCon, bringing together educators and leaders in Microbiology and related sciences for scholarly presentations, networking, and meaningful discussions on contemporary teaching and industry-focused topics.

Who Should Attend
EduCon welcomes educators across the Microbiology and broader science education community including:

  • Teaching and research-focused academics in Microbiology and related disciplines

  • Education researchers and educational leaders

  • Sessional and casual teaching staff

  • Educators from universities, TAFE, schools, and research institutes

  • Education industry partners

  • Students – as future colleagues and leaders in Microbiology education

Future Ready Education
EduCon 2026 embraces the full spectrum of innovative teaching practice—from authentic assessment and sustainable pedagogy to student partnerships and inclusive learning design.
This year, we shine a particular spotlight on teaching and learning in the era of artificial intelligence. We'll explore innovative learning design, assessment integrity, and strategies for preparing future-ready microbiology students.
EduCon provides opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and shared learning aimed at strengthening teaching design and delivery across our community.

Present and Publish
We're pleased to announce a special education-focused issue of Microbiology Australia (November 2026) titled "In the Era of AI: Approaches for Learning and Teaching in Microbiology." We encourage EduCon presenters to develop their work for publication in this special issue.
