Dr Yogitha Srikhanta
Monash University, VIC, Australia
Dr Yogitha (Yogi) Srikhanta is a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher and Biomedicine Discovery Institute Group Leader in the Department of Microbiology at Monash University. She has been the recipient of several competitive fellowships, including an NHMRC Biomedical Fellowship and a Griffith University Fellowship.
Yogitha is recognised as a pioneer in the bacterial epigenetics field through her co-discovery of the phasevarion system. Yogitha’s current research focuses on gut pathogen biology, using Clostridioides difficile as a model system. She integrates genetics, genomics, proteomics and imaging with in vivo models to investigate antibiotic resistance, bacterial spore adaptation to changing environments, and the development of novel anti-sporulation therapeutics.
As Chair of the ASM Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, she is a strong advocate for EDI in microbiology.
