PRESENTER GUIDELINES & RECORDING INSTRUCTIONS
The Australian Society for Microbiology supports inclusion of all at our conferences. We encourage speakers to consider the principles of universal design when they are putting together presentations.
There are many existing universal design resources that we encourage our speakers to access, including at their own institutions.
Here are some resources to help:
Users of Microsoft products may find these resources useful:
Google slides and other products also have accessible templates that can help:

IN-PERSON PRESENTERS:
IN PERSON ORAL PRESENTERS (selected abstract, symposium speaker & CliniCon abstracts)
You are required to bring your slides on a USB, saved in a format for display on a PC within the room (ie Powerpoint in 16:9) and it should be taken to the Speaker Preparation Room at the Conference. A technician will be on hand to assist with any transfer/loading issues and to help you check your presentation.
Selected abstracts will have 8 minutes plus 2 minutes for Q&A.
Symposium speakers will have 17 minutes plus 3 minutes for Q&A.
CliniCon abstracts will have 8 minutes plus 2 minutes for Q&A.
VIRTUAL PRESENTERS:
VIRTUAL ORAL PRESENTERS (selected abstract, symposium speaker & CliniCon abstracts)
As a virtual oral presenter, we strongly recommend that you pre-record your talk and then participate in a live Q&A session after your talk. You will be sent a link to join the broadcasting studio a few days before the start of the conference. You will also be required to join a training session prior to the conference to familiarise yourself with the broadcasting studio.
The deadline to provide us with your recording is Monday 13th June 2022.
Selected abstracts will have 8 minutes plus 2 minutes for Q&A.
Symposium speakers will have 17 minutes plus 3 minutes for Q&A.
CliniCon abstracts will have 8 minutes plus 2 minutes for Q&A.
POSTER PRESENTERS
Poster presentations are being delivered differently this year, as both a traditional poster (applicable for those attending in-person) and a 3 minute video presentation (required for all poster presenters).
Please ensure you read the following instructions carefully.
All posters will be displayed as a pre-recorded 3-minute presentation that will be displayed for the duration of the conference on the virtual platform.
Presenters may use up to 5 PowerPoint slides for their presentation and are strongly encouraged to film their e-Poster in Zoom (or similar software) so delegates can see your face. If you do not wish to film yourself, you can simply narrate your poster/slides (your video file would therefore consist of visuals of your poster/slides and audio with your narration). Click here for instructions on how to pre-record your presentation
e-Posters must be submitted as an mp4 file type (maximum file size 100MB)
e-Posters must be 16:9 widescreen format (landscape) and 1920 x 1080px resolution - How to check your set up is 16:9 | How to set the resolution in PowerPoint
When recording your e-Poster, please ensure your poster/PowerPoint slides are displayed in full screen (i.e., do not record while the ‘presenter view’ is visible - which includes your notes and a thumbnail of the next slide).
In-person poster presenters are required to bring a physical poster (maximum size A0, portrait orientation only) and produce a 3-minute e-Poster to ensure everyone has access to your presentation.
e-Posters must be submitted by Monday 6th June 2022.
