Prof Mark Blaskovich

Prof. Mark Blaskovich is an ‘antibiotic hunter’ and Director of Translation for the Institute for Molecular Bioscience at The University of Queensland. He also leads the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre CEAStAR (Centre for Environmental and Agricultural Solutions to Antimicrobial Resistance) and the antibiotic crowdsourcing initiative CO-ADD (Community for Open Antimicrobial Drug Discovery). A medicinal chemist with 15 years of industrial drug development experience at three biotech companies, since 2010 he has been developing new antibiotics, antibiotic alternatives, and diagnostics to detect and treat resistant bacterial and fungal infections. His research includes multiple industry collaborations focused on antimicrobial resistance. Blaskovich is a member of the WHO antibiotic pipeline advisory panel and chair of the GARDP REVIVE review panel.
