Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, Australia

Dr. Justin A. Roby is a virology research fellow at the Gulbali Institute, Charles Sturt University. He is a virologist and innate immunologist by training and leads a small research group investigating virus-host interactions and their contribution to disease pathogenesis. Working with human and veterinary pathogens, Dr. Roby investigates both cell signalling pathways exploited by orthobunyaviruses to facilitate replication, and cell signalling events blocked by orthoflaviviruses to escape host defences.

Dr. Roby is also passionate about equity and diversity in science and leads the Rural and First Nations Community Engagement pillar as a founding member of the Training Hub promoting Regional Industry and Innovation in Virology and Epidemiology (THRIIVE). Dr. Roby also sits on the committee of management for the Australasian Virology Society (AVS) where he acts as the Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion representative, working closely with a dedicated team of volunteers to promote GEDI issues in the field.
