Jenny Yum

Scientist, Infectious Diseases (ID) Molecular Pathology team at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP)

Jenny Yum is a scientist in the Infectious Diseases (ID) Molecular Pathology team at Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP). With a lifelong interest in science and medicine, she pursued a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) degree at the University of Queensland. She gained experience in a myriad of molecular techniques during her Honours project at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, characterising venoms through transcriptomic/proteomic approaches and pharmacological assays. Joining SNP in 2019, she began her career in ID diagnostics amidst the onset of a pandemic, embracing the unique challenges this brought about. Stepping beyond high-throughput respiratory pathogen testing, she now oversees quality control materials for the ID team and enjoys participating in educational events such as those organised by ASM- finding the monthly ASM special interest group meetings particularly valuable for peer learning.
