Dr Feargal Ryan
Flinders University, SA
Dr Feargal J. Ryan is an NHMRC Investigator, head of Computational Multi-Omics at Flinders University, as well as Vice-President of the Australian Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Society (ABACBS). They specialise in systems biology and the integration of multi-omics data to uncover disease mechanisms and understand variability in therapeutic response particularly within the human microbiome, cancer and infectious disease. Dr Ryan has led analyses of multi-omics data from dozens of clinical studies encompassing thousands of patients across Europe, North America, and Australia, with findings published in Nature, Science, Nature Microbiology, and Gut. They have also driven the development of novel microbiome analysis tools for taxonomic classification and functional interpretation, advancing the application of computational biology to clinical and translational research.
