CliniCon welcomes you to Brisbane in 2024 and forms part of ASM’s Annual Scientific Meeting. The CliniCon event will deliver a diverse and relevant program for medical scientists, technicians, assistants, microbiology/infectious diseases registrars, clinical microbiologists, students and the trade. It will be an industry specific meeting perfect for professional development with plenty of networking opportunities for the clinical diagnostic sector of ASM.

Rates

  • You will be asked some demographic questions as part of your registration. These are optional but encouraged to assist the Organising Committee with future planning.

  • If you are a current/financial ASM member, please use the same email as your membership so the system is able to recognise your profile and offer you the member rates.

REGISTRATION FAQs

  • You can register for CliniCon by clicking the link at the top of the page. This will take you to the ASN Events online registration system. If you have attended an ASN Events conference before, you will need to log in to your profile as a returning delegate with your original email and password.

    If you are registering with ASN Events for the first time, you need to register as a new delegate. You will be taken to a page where you can enter your personal details. This will be the only time you will ever need to enter your details for any event run by ASN Events.

    Once you have completed your registration, you will receive a confirmation email, outlining what you have registered for. If you do not receive this email, either your email was entered incorrectly or your registration is not complete. If this happens, please contact ASN Events. Please do not re-register.

    You can use your email and password to access your registration at any time to make any necessary changes such as adding additional add-on's, making a payment, downloading your certificate of attendance or your current invoice.

    If you wish to make changes to your registration type after you have registered, please email the details to the secretariat - do not re-register or add-on.

  • If you are a group manager who is arranging registrations for delegates within your organisation, please contact Sally Wills (sally.w@asnevents.net.au) for registration instructions.

    If you are a group manager that is arranging the payment of registrations for delegates outside of your organisation, please contact Sally Wills (sally.w@asnevents.net.au) with the following details:

  • A secure site is provided for online payment of your charges. This has its own section on the ‘dashboard’. The payment options are:

    Credit card - Visa, Mastercard or American Express. Please note that you will be charged a 1.25% surcharge on Visa, Mastercard and 2.95% surcharge for using American Express

    Direct debit (you will be emailed banking instructions upon application)

    An Australian Tax Invoice will be provided for all registrants once registered. You can reprint this and your receipt from your ‘dashboard’ at any time.

    The ABN for the conference is 90 093 246 176. All rates quoted include GST and are in Australian dollars.

    All online registrations are checked by the secretariat. If there is any query they will contact you. If you wish to make changes or additions after you have registered, return to your ‘dashboard’. The ‘dashboard’ also keeps a record of any abstracts you have submitted.

    ASN supports responsible use of on-line credit card transactions and reports suspected fraudulent activity to Federal Police and the Immigration Office.

  • Registration cancellations will incur a cancellation fee of A$100 (or cost of registration if less than A$100) if made in writing before Friday 31 May 2024. No refund is payable after that date, however registrations may be transferred to substitute delegates without incurring a fee.

  • The Conference Organisers accept no liability if an event is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond their reasonable control resulting from an act of God, governmental regulation, fire, war, terrorist activity or civil commotion.

    If the Conference Organisers elect to re-schedule the conference, all registrations and additional items are automatically rolled over to the new dates of the conference.

    If the Conference Organisers elects to cancel the event, the liability is limited to a refund of registration costs, subject to fees and conditions. The conference will not refund any travel costs associated with the cancellation of the event. Accommodation pre-payments will be refunded subject to the terms and conditions of the hotel.

    Delegates are strongly advised to secure appropriate travel and health insurance. Delegate registration fees do not provide any such insurance coverage. The Conference Organisers and ASN Events as managing agent, accept no responsibility or liability against cancellations of bookings, loss or inconvenience or theft/damage to belongings in this regard.

    All best endeavours will be made to present the program as published on the conference website. The Conference Organisers reserve the right to alter, without prior notice, any of the arrangements, timetables, plans or other items relating to the conference for any cause beyond its reasonable control. The Conference Organisers are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused because of such alteration.

    By registering, participants acknowledge and consent that during their attendance at the conference their image or voice may be recorded via video, photograph or by any other means (“recorded”) by an officer or official of the conference which may be distributed or published at the discretion of the Conference Organisers. If you do not wish to be recorded, you are required to formally advise ASN Events in advance by email.

  • The registration fee does not include insurance of any kind and the Meeting Secretariat cannot take any responsibility for any participant failing to arrange their own insurance. Delegates are encouraged to make their own insurance arrangements to cover any loss caused by unforeseen delay, circumstance or cancellation.

ABSTRACT FAQs

  • CLINICON is accepting abstracts for both oral and poster presentations.

    All presentation types are in person.

  • Ensure you use one of the following browsers: INTERNET EXPLORER (v11 or newer) MOZILLA FIREFOX (v44 or newer) SAFARI (v5 or newer)

    Mac Users: if you have trouble submitting your abstract, try submitting from a PC. If you are still have issues, please contact the secretariat.

    Mozilla Users: the security policy in Mozilla often prevents pasting from your clipboard without using the menu commands. You can still cut and paste your abstract into the submission, but you may have to use the menu command rather than ‘control v’ shortcut.

    * Ensure your abstract text is less than 320 words as the system will not accept submissions over this limit. The word count does NOT include your title, authoring or cited references

    * Have your abstract open on your computer to enable you to cut and paste it into the submission system.

  • Select the presentation type and category

    Provide some keywords to assist in categorisation of your abstract

    Enter the title of your abstract. Please type the title in sentence case (that is lowercase with only the first letter of the first word in capitals) and without any punctuation. A correctly formatted example follows: ‘Title of my presentation for the conference’

    Enter the name of all authors and their organisations and indicate the presenting author by ticking the relevant box.

    Type or cut and paste the text of your abstract/synopsis into the relevant field. Please ensure the abstract is no more than 320 words. (Does not include title, authoring or cited references)

    Preview your abstract, make any changes required and finalise your submission and return to your dashboard

    You will receive an email confirmation that your abstract has been successfully submitted. Please check your email junk file if you have received it.

    Should you wish to make any changes to your abstract after you have submitted it, please log onto your online registration dashboard. Click on the “View Submission” then “Preview/edit abstract”.

    ****Please note you will only be able to make changes to your abstract until the submission deadline, after which any changes should be sent to ASN Events.

  • The Conference Committee will review all submissions before selecting the presentations which will be included in the conference program.

  • Once the reviewing has been completed the conference organisers will notify abstract presenters of their acceptance. Specific presentation instructions will be included in the notification.
